11:27am; What is Worship?

Hey everyone, hope you all are doing well.

So I’m gonna take on a rough topic today, I wanted to write it sooner but never really knew what to say. So here goes nothing, or maybe everything…

So I want to ask the question, What is Worship?

Seems sort of broad I know, in the context in which I ask this question I mean

what is it that we worship, what holds our affection the most, what or who is our first love? What do you desire the most?

I’m not asking to make anyone feel guilty, I constantly ask this question of myself. I think we ought do “spiritual check ups” and make sure our hearts are set, fixed, locked and loaded on Jesus.

I believe we all worship something.. whether that be a person, a career, a hobby, etc.

All those aren’t bad, but they can become an idol if its not put in its proper place. Jesus says whereever your treasure is, that’s where your heart will be also.

Some of my idols would be:

Music, friendships, having fun, acceptance..

You might think those aren’t that bad, but the fear of man can cripple someone if you are a people pleaser. Been there, done that..

In Deuteronomy 6:5 its to LOVE the Lord your God with ALL your HEART, SOUL, MIGHT & STRENGTH.

Let Jesus be your first love, cuz He LOVES YOU, forgives you, wants to be with you, He made you for His own.

Stay awesome y’all, love y’all

11:00pm Last Night; Why Our Words Matter..

Hey everyone

So I’ve been wanting to write something on this topic for awhile and its something I’ve been pondering and am still working on.

Work in progress anyone?…. 🙌🏽

Anyways, so yes your words matter, what you say to others, what you say about others when they aren’t around, and also what you say to and about yourself matters as well.

Your words hold power, you can either speak life into a situation or you can speak death into a situation, I would even argue and say that your words are more than just words.

What you say to people matters as well, you can either build people up or tear people down with your words.

The words we speak often reflect what we believe about ourselves and others. Our words matter more than we think.

So together, lets be kind with our words, lets speak life rather than death into someone’s life and into each other’s lives, families, friends etc.

Stay awesome, love y’all

I Don’t Know Where I Would Be Without Him

Hey everyone, I hope you all have had an amazing, restful weekend.

I’m going to take you all back a little bit to sometime around I wanna say after 12th grade. I was volunteering at a retirement home my grandfather was living at the time.

It was around 9am in the morning, it was a cool morning, and I took a woman outside to enjoy the weather because it was nice out. Her and I talked for a little bit, then I asked her out of nowhere “do you believe in God?”

She then tells me the following..

“That’s such a weird question of you to ask, of course I believe in God, I don’t know where I would be without Him.”

That put a smile on my face.

I honestly don’t know where I would be without Jesus, I had plenty of days without Him in the past, and those days I felt depressed, those days were dark.

Now I have Him in my life, and He’s so good, although when life gets hard I still have a hard time going to Him, trusting Him.

Yeah..I’m not perfect.. but He is

He’s beautiful, and I honestly don’t know where I would be without Him. Let Jesus love you and get to know you.

Stay awesome yall, love you

My Instagram Life

Hey everyone, its been awhile since I last posted something. 😀

Well lets get to it…

I feel a lot of my life has been consumed by Instagram as of recently. Mostly I post guitar videos, my song lyrics, biblical or even inspirational posts. I even have posted about some of my hard times and try to be real to some extent.

I believe if you are going to share the good stuff in your life, you should be willing to share the bad as well.

If we are honest, when on any social media all you see are people’s high points, people’s highlight reels or sometimes we feel we “need” to post-just to post something, or it could be just flat out bordem.

I’m not saying Instagram is bad, but it does get bad where if you don’t control  your posting habits, it tends to control YOU!

In Soviet Russia, Instagram controls you…<<<<<<
s after that stupid attempt of making a joke, my point is I know I need to make a change, do something different other just be on my phone, cuz in all actuality, your Instagram is not REAL life, its just like 1% of your life.

I’m not just writing this for you, I’m writing this for me too.

Love y’all, stay awesome ❤️🙌🏽🔥

2017: Life is sometimes like a Fiery Furnace (Courage Devotion)

Hey everyone, hope you all are having an awesome weekend, I pray all is well.

In Daniel chapter 3 we see this scene where Nebuchadnezzar sets up the golden image and tells everyone to bow down and worship the image and if they don’t, he would toss them in the furnace.

“Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual”

‭‭Daniel‬ ‭3:15-19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So lets be honest my friends, life is sometimes like a fiery furnace, life can be hard as hell sometimes but it can also be like fire.

I’ll be honest this year has been a bit trying, my first car accident, had friends pass away but then seeing the stuff in the news has been the least to say…not so good.

Life can be difficult ,but its worth going through the hard things in life. Grief is a gift and it comes at different times and different seasons. Jesus says here while we are on this earth we will all have trouble, but to take heart because HE has overcome the world.

With Jesus we can overcome any situation that seems impossible to us. I firmly believe that. Jesus overcame the most impossible situation life had for him which was…

Death itself…

Death wasn’t the end though, He came back three days later, talk about insane right?!

Anyways all of that to say is let the Lord be Lord over the fire rather than get burned by it.

Hope you all have an amazing week til next time.

The Idiocy in Me

Hey everyone, hope you all are having an amazing night/morning. 😀❤️

So lets dive right into this shall we..

God revealed something about me a couple days ago and convicted me yet again today.

I was walking and just listening to my music when God told me that I call myself an idiot because I have been labeled that and that I had chosen to accept that label.

So let me back up..

For as long as I can remember calling myself an idiot, either because of the mistakes I have made in the past or because I always joke around and call myself that.

Let’s be clear, its not a good word to call yourself. In fact its probably just as bad as any other cuss word, its a word that carries a sense of devalue (in my honest opinion).

So anyway… I’m walking one day, listening to some Christian rap or rock, whatever it was. I had this thought that I knew wasn’t mine and I knew it was from somewhere else cuz the thought was so specific and on point.

Another reason was because I believed it to be part of my identity…”being an idiot.” Even though God never saw me that way at all, I saw myself that way and felt discouraged a lot of the time.

I think the most important thing to understand is how God views us, what human beings see is the exterior, but God views us from the interior, who we were made to be in Him.

I viewed myself as an idiot for so long mostly because of stuff I had done to people. People may see me as an idiot but God doesn’t see me or anyone that believes in Jesus that way.
God doesn’t call you an idiot, He is in love with you.

Stay awesome, I love you all

Be kind to yourself

Dear Friend…

Hey everyone

So this post is gonna be a different post, I’ve said in my past posts I work with elderly people.

This post is just me writing out all this stuff that I’ve kept in me.

Feel free to skip this particular post cuz its more for me, or you can read it…

Dear Friend..

Its been four months now since you passed on and you have been on my mind more than once now…
It’s still hard to process that you aren’t here anymore, its more saddening than terrifying. I used to believe it was terrifying as a child, now I don’t believe that.

Two days after you passed I came into your room and saw you weren’t there anymore, the pain and heartache was there but I couldn’t tell the difference between if it was about you being gone or if it was about the wait.

I took off work early that day, I was listening to a song that kind of reminded me of you and when I parked my car, I broke down and cried hard, very hard…

I’m glad I got to be a part of your life and I’m glad you got to be part of mine.

I know one day, I will see you with Our Lord and Savior Jesus. The One who made both of us and loves us the same.
Thank you for being a light and being my friend.

The Infamous Skateboarding Accident of 2017

Hey everyone, hope you all are doing well.

Yes I will be explaining what happened to my left thumb.

I was riding my skateboard in the dark, in a not very well lit neighborhood, and I hit this pothole.

Let me tell you I went down… like I went down…

When you fall, your normal reaction is to hold your hands out in front of you, and I did just that…

I went down and sorta rolled in a way that caused my thumb to fracture.

Next thing I know, I’m on the ground, I’m in shock for a few mintues, then the pain rushes in like a rush of water. I see blood on my elbow, there was blood on my hands, I had some serious road burn on my shoulder and back.

All those hurt, but what hurt the most was my thumb. I even cracked it, I was scared I broke it or something. That was on the 7th of Friday, on my birthday…

On the 10th I went to an urgent care center and they told me I fractured it and recently just went to an orthopedist and they told me that I have a displaced fracture at the base of my thumb. Fun stuff.

So why in the world am I telling you all this??

This injury is teaching me a lot about true brokenness, how our world is truly broken and I’m not talking just about corrupt justice systems, or sex trafficking and the like, although those are part of the brokenness we live in.

I’m talking about not willing to forgive someone that did something horrible to someone, or even holding a grudge against someone.

When things are broken, it takes time for it to heal, doesn’t matter what it is, brokenness always takes time to heal.

I used to believe that forgiveness was a one time thing and that you had to feel forgiveness in order to forgive.

Forgiveness is a choice, it’s possible, but sometimes it takes more than one time to forgive.

Hard lesson to learn.

There is only One who can bind up our brokenness. One who can heal us from our brokenness, make us new and whole.

Stay awesome people, love y’all

The Angry Christian Pt. 2 (Slowly Letting Go)

Hey beautiful people, hope everyone is having a good day.

First off I want to tell you that this post is gonna be an honest post on the ‘Americanized church’ but more about how I got more involved in my church but then slowly going back to just participating in church i.e. ‘Church attendance’

Lets do it..

So in 2015 I was on the worship team at my church for a good couple months. Then after months on end I didn’t receive any emails or any other form of communication   saying when the next time I would be on worship team.

One day a guy that helps lead worship was at my house and I blantatly asked him what was going on, and he told me that they need people that are able to commit, even though I did tell them my job requires me to be there and that I can’t be on the worship team EVERY DAG ON SUNDAY!

The guy also said that I wasn’t experienced enough or some bs like that and maybe a good majority of it is true.

Point is there was no communication and honestly it sort of made me angry that no one told me earlier on in the year.

So the past couple years I’ve been learning to painfully and slowly let go and let God be God over that particular circumstance. There have been moments where I felt God took away the worship team, but He didn’t, life just tends to get in the way.

Two things I learned that I want to share is that:

1. Worship isn’t about the music, it’s actually has less to do with us, and more about our Savior.

2. Worship is also about where your heart is at, what you desire the most.

For so long I’ve wanted to be on the worship team I guess not just for music or my Savior but more for people to accept me, to tell me “good job” or “thank you.”

I guess you could say I was on the worship team for acceptance and approval from others, not fully realizing or understanding that God fully loves me and accepts me despite where I’m at.

I’m grateful for our God who is faithful, He gave me a small bible study group ran by a close friend and sister in the Lord, and I help lead worship with that group and its been such a blessing to do that.

Two lessons here:

1. KNOW You are accepted and loved by your Creator God, Yaweh, the Great I AM, it doesn’t matter what season you are in, just know and rest in God

2. If you lead worship at your church or are on a worship team, Do it for God and for God alone, you don’t need approval from others.

I love you all, stay safe out there, and know you are LOVED. God bless

I love you, stay awesome ❤️

Whole-Hearted Devotion

Hey beautiful people, you’re making it, its almost the end of this week, and would also like to point out I’m gonna be 25 in a few days and lets say I have mixed feelings about that- nuff said…

Anyways, I’ve been really thinking about whole-hearted devotion, and leadership this week. Honestly I’ve been thinking about leadership for quite some time and how Our Lord and Savior Jesus exuded such incredible leadership.

One of the many things that he taught was if you want to be great, you must be a servant, you must be willing to be like a child, you must be willing to have humility. In this world, leadership is all about getting things done, stepping on the other guy’s back… you get the idea, another blog, another time.

Worldly leadership says that you gotta claim what’s yours, maybe even take it by force if need be. The problem with this type of leadership is the fact that its a heart issue, in terms of it being a selfish heart issue, its a very self-centered focus.

Being wholeheartedly devoted to something or to someone takes time, patience, it even requires sacrifice. Being wholehearted means having humility ,and willing to be vulnerable.

Its not easy being whole-hearted, most days its just damn hard to be whole-hearted. If we are honest, most of us would probably say we are half-heartedly devoted, but that’s not true commitment. We must be willing to commit to whatever it is we do and stick it out, all the way, 110%, nothing less, and all the more.

I have a hard time keeping my commitments, this blog is one of those commitments, same with my music, even my commitment to God and the people in my life.

Now let me get off the accelerator for a second and let me just encourage someone and say that YOU ARE AWESOME! YOU GOT THIS, NOBODY HAS ANYTHING ON YOU, THIS WORLD HAS GOT NOTHING ON YOU!

That’s right, you got this, being whole-heartedly is hard but you can do it. Whatever you do as long as its an honest living, a hobby, maybe even a dream or a passion you are pursuing, go hard or go home. Better yet don’t even go home, slam the door and run far away, haha! 😂

(I know, that was stupid, I get stupid when I’ve had Redbull.)

Point is we all have commitments, so lets keep those commitments and keep on continuing to live whole-heartedly. I’m saying this more for myself than anyone else who might be reading this.

Love y’all ❤️

Stay awesome
